“J.J get over here now!”, I heard as I entered my grandmother’s house. The young puppy ran over to my grandmother sitting on the couch barking as he does so. “Hey Nana,” I said. “Well hello”, she responded in her soft welcoming voice. “Jordan’s waiting for you upstairs.” As I began to approach his room I could hear the sound of music shaking the area. When I knocked on the door he opened it with a tired expression on his face, “What’s up Johnny?” “I gotta interview you for a school project.”. Johnny was a nickname for me when we went out in public together,I came up with it. “So basically what I gotta do is just ask you questions about you being an adult, your life and what-not.” “Alright.”, I set up the recorder and began the interview.
“For the record please state your name and age,” I started. “My name is Jordan Morris and I’m 21-years-old.” His room was pretty small for his age, his bed was in his corners as usual, the walls were painted a dark blue and he has an Xbox and a small tv on top of a nightstand. “How are you doing today Jordan?” “I’m cool, kinda tired, I was up late last night.” Jordan’s face revealed how fatigued he was. “I heard that you’re looking for a place.” His voice lightened with delight. “Yeah, my girl and I have been apartment hunting for a few months. I’m trying to find a place close to Philly so I can keep working but she wants a place still close to here so she could see her family and find a job.” My grandmother lives in Norristown with her husband and Jordan currently, that’s the living situation. “What’s her name?”, I asked. “Robyn”, he answered.
“What else have you been doing lately?” “Well kinda just graduated sooner than I thought I would.” “Why, did you graduate a year early or something?” “I graduated high school early actually, finished that jawn at 17.” “Where’d you graduate from?” Jordan got more and more integrated with each and every word. It was as if someone cared to hear what he had to say. “It was a community college. I worked multiple jobs at 17 until I turned 18 and applied to community college. After that I um, I went to the school, put in my two years, and then I started looking for a house. I’ve been doing that ,and I’ve been holding down my job now. That’s it.” “Okay.” I shook his hand, “Thank you for your time Jordan.” “Thanks for listening, Cere.” I left the room and closed the door behind me, understanding just a little bit more about who Jordan Morris is.
